An evening of old time music will be featured at the Kirkland Art Center coffee house in Clinton on Friday, February 8th at 8:00 p.m. Taking to the stage will be Trish Miller and John Kirk (her husband) with a diverse set of original and traditional tunes.

The new Merriam-Webster dictionary had added the word "earworm" to its latest edition. It's defined as "a song or melody that keeps repeating in one's mind". We have all been infected by an earworm at one time or another, probably a number of times, and those songs usually end up being among our all time favorites. Recently there have been a number of earworm cases related to a certain lyric that goes "Red solo cup....da..da..da..I fill you up". What are the most infectious country earworm songs of all time?

If you listen to Bono, Eric Clapton or any other European artist in an interview, they have a thick accent that just magically disappears when they sing... How come Chris Young, Josh Turner, Scotty McCreery and others still have that Southern twang no matter if they're speaking or singing? And how do you explain the disappearing accent anyway?

As a vocalist and instructor I can speak from experience with this one… It all comes down to vowels
