Have you had a song that really spoke to you or hit home for you? Carrie Underwood's song "So Small" impacted my life in several ways. I've been a huge fan of Carrie Underwood since she graced the stage of American Idol and I have had the wonderful privilege of meeting her back in 2012.  All of her songs have been so inspirational to me. One song in particular completely changed my entire perspective on life, and that is her #1 song from her 2nd studio album "Carnival Ride" titled "So Small."

My high school years were quite brutal. I was bullied, I was constantly surrounded by negative and dramatic energy for six hours a day by my peers, and I was at the end of my rope. It was right around that time when "So Small" debuted and it really hit home for me.  The first time I heard this, I felt like it had been written especially for me.

It's so easy to get lost inside
A problem that seems so big at the time
It's like a river that's so wide, it swallows you whole
While you're sitting 'round thinking about what you can't change
And worrying about all the wrong things
Time's flying by, moving so fast
You better make it count 'cause you can't get it back.

Those lyrics were (and still are) like a godsend to me. They're so powerful and made me realize how much of my own time and energy I was wasting by focusing on the negativity around me. I was letting the words of others control my thoughts and I realized how much of my life they were consuming. It really did feel like a river that was swallowing me whole.

Another part of the song that hit me was of course, the chorus:

Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And when you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else seem so small.

Looking back now, I saw my high school problems as a huge mountain, when in reality, it ended up being something that I could easily climb over. This song taught me that no matter what obstacles or challenges I may face, it's important to keep things in perspective, to focus on the positives, to not forget what's really important in life. I carry this lesson with me all of the time.

So, tell us, is there a song that has impacted or changed your life? We'd love to hear from you!
