Why is it that when we hear about national average gas prices in the media, it seems like we're paying more here in Central New York? Because we are! According to reports, gas prices in the Utica-Rome area are the highest in the state.

According to our sister station, WIBX:

"Drivers in the Utica-Rome area are paying the highest price for a gallon of gas in the state.

AAA’s Ed Welsh says while the average price is $4.13 cents a gallon, there is a bit of good news.

Welsh says were are starting to see a bit of a slowdown in the price increase, with prices up only 2-cents from last week.

Gas prices are 15-cents higher than they were a month ago."
