Naked Woman Charged With DWI, Denies Being Naked

A downstate New York woman has been charged with DWI after crashing her car into a wall. The Gothamist reports that Catherine Giaquinto was allegedly not only drunk but also naked when officers pulled her over. She denied being naked and, technically, she may have been correct. For those of us with kids already grown, Halloween is not something we think about during the day, until we open the door for trick or treaters tonight. Here's a friendly reminder to drive extra carefully today. There'll be lots of foot traffic with the little trick or treaters, especially during the noon hour lunch break, when kids may parade around their school, 2:30 p.m. on when they get out of school, and from about 4:00 p.m. through tonight.

We've all seen people doing it. Perhaps, in a lapse of judgement, we've even done it ourselves. Although talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal many people still engage in this dangerous practice. Yesterday at Whitesboro High School and at VVS a victim of inattention due to cell phone use while driving, Jacy Good of Pennsylvania, spoke to students of the dangers first hand. According to WKTV Jacy and her parents were the victims of a cell phone distracted driver with devastating results.

Texas Highway To Have 85 MPH Speed Limit

It's said that Texas has miles and miles of open road which is probably one of the reasons the Texas Transportation Commission has approved the 85 mph speed limit for a 41-mile-long toll road near the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. The AP reports that while most highway speed limits top out at 75 MPH and a few in rural areas of Texas and Utah are set at 80 the new Texas limit would be the nations highest. Not everyone favors the change.

Even though the "Frog Days Of Summer" are still officially with us, it's back to school week. Most local kids will be going back to class this Thursday, and that means that all of us have to drive extra carefully. As you may know, drivers must come to a complete stop on both sides of the street when school buses are flashing red lights. The red lights indicate that kids are either getting on or off the bus, and will be crossing the street.
