Maybe we don't get enough sleep, or work too many hours a day, but we had better try to stay awake and alert behind the wheel!   The statistics are quite alarming.

"41% of all drivers admit they have fallen asleep while driving and 10% admit it has happened in the past year, according to the third annual AAA Foundation's Traffic Safety Culture Index. More than a quarter of those surveyed admitted that in the previous month, they drove despite being so tired they had difficulty keeping their eyes open. The result? Drowsy driving contributes to more than 5,500 traffic deaths annually and is a factor in nearly 17% of fatal crashes, far higher than previously estimated, especially when compared with a 1994 analysis that found it was a factor in just 3.6% of fatal crashes."

We should make sure we are well rested before we get behind the wheel.
