Plane Nearly Lands On Man Lying On Beach [WATCH]

Who in their right mind would put an airplane runway right near a beach? Apparently someone in Northern Germany. A man who was sunbathing on that same beach, was nearly killed when a plane that was coming in for a landing almost came up short of the strip. The man escaped with no injuries, but a fence post behind him wasn't so lucky.

According to an article on The Daily Telegraph website the camera man who shot this video, Rainer Schmidt, has this to say about the near tragedy:

I was watching the planes come into land. I had seen five planes land before this one came in. I instantly realised that this one was coming in to land far too low. The others were at least six metres high. It was so close to the man on the beach. The man was very lucky.

According to the same article the pilot, Juergen Drucker, made this statement:

As the pictures show, that it wasn't one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit. In my defense I can say that I didn't see him because he was lying down and I'm just very grateful it worked out well and I didn't land on him. I don't want to say any more than that. I fear I will be in for a fine from the Federal Aviation Office but I hope I will be able to keep my license.

I'm sure the guy he almost killed hopes the opposite.
