Students Will Be Ready for School Thanks to Rome Police

45 students from Kindergarten to 5th grade will be ready for back to school thanks to the Rome Police Department and "Operation Backpack."

On Sunday September 3, 2017 Rome police will be giving out back-packs full of supplies to selected children. You can watch it happen. The Rome Police Department will Facebook live the event.

Money for all the supplies came from the officers themselves. "A few of us went out and purchased everything and then collected money from members of the Department," says officer Jeff Buckley.

This is nothing new for the Rome Police Department. They not only protect their community, they invest in it too. From playing basketball with neighborhood kids and buying Christmas gifts for families less fortunate to escorting kids to school or giving a hand to someone down on their luck.
