It seems the news is all too frequently reporting another food recall. While no one would celebrate that fact, it's good news for local growers and producers as more and more people are making the switch to locally grown products. And whether you're buying or selling, one of the best places to do it is at the Oneida County Public Market.

The Market features several local farms and by rule, a minimum of 50% of their products must be self-produced. Usually, the items will be tastier and fresher because it's not transported long distances and swimming with preservatives. And the products are quite frequently less expensive.

They are open nearly year round, with two Saturdays remaining in the winter season, April 14 and 28. The 2018 summer schedule for the Oneida County Public Market has been released, it begins Saturday, May 19 and continues weekly through October 27. All markets are around the Utica Train Station from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the REA wing.

Farmers or producers who want to sell their wares during the summer market need to apply now. Call 315-798-3639 for more information or you can download a Vendor Application. More details for consumers and vendors is available at Oneida County Public Market.com
