NY’s Top 3 Halloween Candy Choices May Surprise You
Americans spend over $2 billion worth of Halloween candy every year, but what are New Yorkers spending the most money on?
CandyStore.com ships candy all over the country and Canada, and they took 11 years of data and created a list of every state's most popular candy.
The list isn't much different than last year's with one exception. Last year, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were #3 on the list surprisingly enough, but what's even more surprising in 2018 is that they didn't make the top 3!
So what are New York's favorites?
1. Sour Patch Kids - New Yorkers have bought over 200 thousand pounds of Sour Patch Kids in the last 11 years.
2. Candy Corn - That's right, people actually like this stuff in New York (we must be the only ones). In fact, New Yorkers bought over 100 thousand pounds of Candy Corn since 2007.
3. Hot Tamales - Knocking Reese's Peanut butter cups out of the top 3, the spicy candy is apparently a new favorite for New Yorkers.
Now you know what kind of candy New Yorkers love, go ahead and stock up for Halloween.
Despite the list, we're pretty sure you won't get your house egged if you hand out Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
