Many years and several pounds ago as I began working in radio, a job offer at country radio seemed to good to pass up.  But country?  It was Merle Haggard that helped make it palatable, then I found Hank Williams Jr.  Now the two icons combine to remake one of Merle's legendary songs, 'I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink.' Watch the just released official lyric video with some looks behind the scenes.

'I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink' was a number 1 hit for Merle Haggard in late 1980 while Hank Jr was releasing hits like 'Women I Never Had' and 'Old Habits.'  So for me, the combination of these two legends remaking this iconic song is like the comfortable t-shirt your wife won't let you wear in public.

“Merle is one-of-a-kind,” says Hank Williams Jr.  “His music resonates with fans just like mine does.  Making this song was simple, it maybe took two takes.  Then we spent the rest of the time laughing and telling old road stories. Merle and I are for the everyday working man and that’s something we have in common.”
