This Sherburne Firefighter Is A Hero; But To Him It’s Just His Job
Meet Edward Geier
Here's a young hero who is dedicated to serving and protecting his community, in much more ways than just one. As a fire fighter, secretary, farmer, and family man, Ed has always put others ahead of himself.
Eddy has been a member of the Sherburne Fire Department for years, starting in their explorer program when he was little. He became a member when he was of age, took BEFO and IFO courses, and is currently the Secretary of the Fire Department Board. He has received multiple awards, specifically when he was 16 years old for bravery when helping a firefighter who was struck by a vehicle in 2017 while directing traffic.
He is one of the younger members of the firehouse, but his work ethic and dedication to helping others means he has gained the respect of many.
When not at the firehouse, he is grateful to be employed by Steel Sales in Sherburne. Any other time you can find him at the family farm, doing a number of things year round like cutting hay, making maple syrup, and raising his beef cows.
Eddy's dedication and pride to the Sherburne community shows in all aspects of his life. Thank you for all that you do and your continued support to everyone in your life.
Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in Central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers, front line workers, or any other person first on the scene.
Include their name, a picture, and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday." We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them an oil change from Jiffy Lube on Commercial Drive in New Hartford and a Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
