Barn Fire In Fayette Kills 83 Cattle, Injures Two Firefighers

A barn fire in the Town of Fayette that took place Tuesday night (7/7/15) has killed 83 cattle and injured two firefighters. 

According to CNY Central, officials say the barn owned by 26-year-old Larry Hurst was destroyed along with livestock, equipment and hay. Losses are currently estimated at more than $1 million.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation and another for a minor neck injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation but officials say it doesn't appear to be suspicious."

The local fire department was assisted by all 11 fire companies in Seneca County in order to put the flames out.
