On Valentine's Day of this year, The Hennessey Venom GT earned the title of fastest coupe on earth. It won't make it into The Guiness Book of World Records, however the video below shows that the previous record held by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was beat by just about 3 seconds. The Bugatti's top speed was 267.81. According to the Racelogic Vbox telemetry system, the Hennessey's top speed reached 270.49. The test took place at The Kennedy Space Center, the perfect spot to test this rocket.

According to an article on Autoblog.com,

Amazingly, the 1,244-horsepower Venom GT was still accelerating even as it reached 270 mph, but the length of the runway limited how far the coupe could be pushed. Driver Brian Smith only had about 2.6 miles to complete his run because it took nearly a kilometer (0.62 miles) to slow the car to 70 mph. "It was still pulling. If we could run on an eight-mile oval, we could go faster than that," said Smith to Top Gear.

This is one fast vehicle. The retail value on a Hennessey Venom GT is $1.2 Million. This speed machine already holds the record for the fastest car from 0 - 300 km/h. That IS a Guiness Record.
