We've all heard the recent news about so-called "pink slime" meat filler, which doesn't sound very appetizing. Price Chopper Supermarkets wants to reiterate that its ground beef does not contain any such substances.

According to our sister station, WIBX:

"In response to “pink slime” making its way into local meat departments, Price Chopper is assuring its customers that its meat is guaranteed fresh.

According to Price Chopper, “pink slime,” also known as Lean Finely Textured Beef or Boneless Lean Beef Trimmings, can be legally added to fresh meat without mentioning it on labels, but would fail to meet the supermarket’s “fresh” quality standards.

In a recent release, the Schenectady based company reaffirmed its message, saying its ground beef doesn’t contain any fillers, additives or pink slime and is “freshly ground at each of our stores several times daily.”
