We’ve teamed up with Whites Farm Supply and James Wesley to ‘Thank a Farmer‘ at FrogFest.  We’ve been asking you to nominate farmers who deserve recognition and 2 will be James Wesley’s special guests at FrogFest June 15th. Today we recognize Keith Palmer, nominated twice.

JoAnne Nomination
If anyone deserves anything, it is my dad Keith (Casey) Palmer of Hubbardsville. He is the hardest working man I know. My dad, a devoted dairy farmer, husband, father and grandfather, works countless, long, hard hours on the farm, yet always has that smile from ear to ear and that great sense of humor. He is always there for any and everyone in need of help to lend a hand, never ever putting his needs first.

Farming right now is a tough job, milk prices staying low, while the cost of everything else inflating, harder and harder for a small dairy farm to keep going, but managing to hold on. There are many long hours; you certainly have to love it do to it, and my father does. He grew up on a farm and has been farming ever since. He should and does take great pride in what he does, and he does an outstanding job.

As my father gets older, he never slows down, still doing everything, and more; for this, he deserves a day/night out, this time for himself. You are the best, dad.

Thank you,
JoAnne Shoemaker (daughter)

Kathleen Nomination
Keith’s dedication to his farm everyday for the last 33 years is something to be admired. His wife Jody’s determination to stand-up for what is right in their community finds her on several town committees. Her perseverance even lead to a “tractor rally” with several tractors, and residents from the community, showing up at the center of town to voice their opposition to the unfair assessments of their land.

The daily barn chores including, but not limited to, milking and feeding the cows are predominantly done by Keith and Jody. While their son, Shane helps daily where needed with fieldwork or barn chores. They take great pride in having their four young grandchildren help out with chores in hopes that they too will enjoy farming as much as “Poppa/Grampy and Grammy” do. George, Dora, Madeline and Anna Lee are always willing to ride in the tractor, help with milking or jump in the Club Car to go move fence.

I appreciate this opportunity to give them praise for all the years and countless hours they have put in to build what they have today. They defiantly deserve it. I am very grateful for all of our local farmers and their families for all they do because we all know it is a “thank-less” job.

Sincerely,
Kathleen Palmer

P.S. Even though I don’t milk the cows as much as I used to before we had our two children, George and Dora, but I can assure you that BIG FROG 104 is always on the radio in the barn!

Thank you Kathleen and JoAnne for your nomination and thank you Keith & Jody Palmer for what you do everyday. We’ll put you in the random drawing to be James Wesley’s special guests at FrogFest June 15th, so he can ‘Thank a Farmer.’
