How Many Hair Care Products Do You Need?

With the recent bathroom renovation project underway, I was forced to shower in the OTHER bathroom.  You know the one occupied by a teenage girl and her hair care products.

I understand shampoo and conditioner, but what can all these other bottles do?  Any of them grow hair?  And as a guy who needs glasses to read anything within arms length, do they all have to look the same.  I've lathered up with conditioner, some kind of gel and something that may be soap or might be shampoo.  Why can't we just have a bar of soap?
