The Academy of Country Music Awards isn't until Sunday, but they announced some of the winners and other honors today.  These awards don't make the televised show, but that doesn't make them any less important.  The biggest announcement is the "Career Achievement" award that goes to Reba. They say when you can be identified by just one name (Reba in this case) that's a sure sign of success and longevity (think Cher).  And Reba has been making music for 25 years.  From the ACM press release..

A previous winner in the Entertainer of the Year category, she has won the ACM Female Vocalist award seven times, the most of any artist. In addition, this is her 13th year to host the ACM Awards. Along with actively pursuing opportunities on Broadway, television, film and fashion, Reba remains one of the best-selling country artists in history, with record sales approaching 57 million.

Other winners include:

Taylor Swift-The Jim Reeves International award for bringing country music to the world.

The movie "Country Strong" won the Tex Ritter award for movies featuring country music.
