Target is hosting their annual car-seat trade-in event where you can upgrade to a bigger size or booster seat at a discount.

Target Stores nationwide will host the event from April 22 until May 5 in honor of Earth Day.

The program makes it simple to get a discount on a car-seat, booster seat or stroller upgrade:

Bring in any unwanted car seats to your local Target store from April 22 through May 5 and get a coupon for 20 percent off a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, travel system or stroller from Target stores or Target.com.

  • Once you get to the store, bring your used car seat to the drop-off box near Guest Services, and a Target team member will give you your coupon.
  • Guests can get one coupon per seat dropped off. The coupon is eligible through May 19, 2018.
  • All old car seats will be recycled with partners at Waste Management.

Target holds the event on Earth Day because recycling car-seats isn't easy.

Car-seats aren't eligible for most curb side recycling programs, and car-seats shouldn't be sold or given away because they expire every six years and have regulations that are always changing.

Since 2016 Target has collected and recycled over 175,000 car-seats and recycled them into new products saving over 2.5 million pounds of materials from ending up in landfills.
