Steven Tyler is going country. At least he's gonna try. The Aerosmith frontman says he's heading to Nashville in 2015 to start writing a country album.

Tyler made the announcement during a Twitter question & answer session when someone asked about new music.

I’m going down to Nashville [in] January, February, March, April to write and see what we get. You know, doing an album is kind of like panning for gold. You get so much sand and dirt until you find a little nugget and you work on the nugget. I always go backwards, you know? ‘Living on the Edge,’ why? Or ‘Janie’s Got a Gun,’ why? Who’s Janie? And then it works. You fill in the blanks.

Tyler is no stranger to country music. He teamed up with Carrie Underwood for a Superbowl CMT Crossroads in 2012 and performed together at the 2011 ACM Award.

Can Tyler crossover? A good song is a good song, no matter what genre it is. 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' worked for Mark Chestnutt, who's cover version spent two weeks at #1.

Darius Rucker is the only rocker who's seen crossover country success. If Tyler wants to see the same success, he should probably avoid writing a song with a title of 'Dude Looks Like A Lady.'
