Steady, Heavy Rain Could Cause Flooding in Central New York
Here comes the wind and rain. Enough rain flooding is possible in central New York.
The National Weather Service says steady, heavy rainfall could cause flooding Wednesday afternoon and evening.
"Heavy rain is expected Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, mainly east of Interstate 81. The heaviest rainfall will be towards the Poconos and Catskills. Minor flooding could occur in poor drainage areas."
Wednesday: Showers, mainly after 5pm. A quarter to a half inch of rain is possible. Wind gusts over 30 mph. High near 62.
Wednesday Night: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Another 1 to inches of rain is possible. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Low around 45.
Thursday: Rain before 9am, then showers, mainly after 9am. A half and three quarters of an inch possible. Wind gusts as high as 31 mph. High near 50.
Thursday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 9pm. Less than a tenth of an inch possible. Low around 43.
Friday: Slight chance of more rain in the morning. High near 52.
The good news is the weekend is looking nice with sun and upper 50s Saturday. More sun and warmer for Sunday with highs in the mid 60s.
