Meet Debbie Baker of Rome.  Four years ago she decided to take her health into her own hands after losing her mother.  Deb went in for gastric bypass surgery and lost 170 pounds.  During the surgery doctors found precancerous lumps in her breast.  Luckily it was caught in time and removed.  Her husband Ed Baker is grateful. 'If she didn't have the weight loss surgery she never would have found the lumps and our lives would be totally differentWe've been together 28 years and I couldn't imagine what our life would be like now if she didn't find the lumps when she did. Its all about early detection.'

Help us raise awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness month by donating to our 'Big Frog Bras' like Debbie did.  She signed her bra as a breast cancer survivor and it'll be added to our string of bras outside the building.  Drop your bra off at our station on River Road in Marcy.  You can also share your breast cancer story like Ed did by sending me an email at polly@bigfrog104.com

In addition to raising money for research, Breast Cancer Awareness month is also a time to remind women to do self breast exams each month.  Mammograms may be uncomfortable and embarrassing for women but it's also a necessity once a year.  So schedule yours today.
