Well, if you are like 50 percent of the people polled for a Leger Marketing survey, then, yes, your dog is more important than your friends.

The survey also found that 80 percent of pet owners allow their small dog on the furniture, and 60 percent of people give their dogs gifts on holidays.

Now, we know that 50 percent of the people polled say their dog is more important than their friends, but how about their significant other? Would you break up with somebody if that person and your dog did not get along. Well, 48 percent of pet owners say they would break up with a potential mate if the person and the K9 did not mesh together. And, 40 percent of people would even avoid inviting people over to the house if they didn't like their dog.

What about you? Would you choose your dog over your friends?
