Halloween is approaching and to make sure every trick or treater has a safe and fun night, here are some tips to keep in mind when heading out.

-Never, ever go into a strangers house or even ring their door for treats unless your parents are with you and say it's okay.

-Be careful when you cross a street. Make sure to look in both directions and make sure there are no cars coming.

-Make sure your parents know where you are going and who you are going with.

-If you're driving, make sure you have enough gas to get there. You don't want to run out on a dark street, all alone, like a bad horror movie!

-If you parents give you a curfew, be home when they say.

-Carry a flashlight and maybe have mini-flashlights for the kids. It gets dark early these days, and this helps drivers see you better on the road.

-Try to make sure the trick or treaters wear some reflective clothing or patches that will also improve their visibility at night.

-Avoid costumes with long robes and capes that kids can trip over.

-Tell the children not to eat the candy while trick or treating, but wait until they get home so you can go through it with them.

-Throwing eggs sounds like fun to kids but it's not only a mess to clean up, it can get you arrested.

The most important thing to remember is to have fun!
