Each week we salute First Responders who are running toward the danger when most of us would be headed the other way. This week we salute, Chief Larry Tamburrino with the Lake Delta Fire Department.

Ever wonder how much firemen work? A lot would be the answer. Larry Tamburrino was nominated by Josh Stagner, himself a First Responder. He tells us Mr. Tamburrino has been serving as Chief for more than a decade. Last year he responded to more than 300.calls with the department. And those numbers don't include training or fund raising efforts.

That's not a full load for Chief Tamburrino, though. He is also a part time Critical Care Tech with Amcare Ambulance Service and a retired Corrections Officer with the New York State Corrections Department.

Thanks for what you do Chief, and continuing to do it when you could probably be relaxing and taking life easy.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
