Each week we salute First Responders who are running toward the danger when most of us would be headed the other way. This week we salute, Ed Dudek with the Deerfield Fire Department.

Ed confirms our believe as he serves in many positions. His fulltime responsibilities are helping others as an EMT at Turning Stone Resort and Casino, where he also works security. Ed also serves as a Lieutenant with the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department.

The person nominating Ed tells us he "lives and breathes firefighting." Confirmed by the fact he shares his knowledge with others as a state fire instructor, bringing additional duties like training new firefighters.

Ed, thanks for what you do serving and protecting Central New York, and teaching others to do the same.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
