Each week we salute First Responders who are running toward the danger when most of us would be headed the other way. This week we salute, David Heller with the 3-G Fire Company.

David has been with the 3-G Fire Company for more than 30 years and has served as Chief for the past 17 years. The department serves the Glenfield, Greig, and Glendale in Upstate New York.

As we often see when it comes to CNY First Responders, not only do they respond to emergency situations, but spend countless hours training and practicing their craft. Then go one step further in serving their department and community. David was instrumental in the construction of a new hall for the department in 2007. In addition to planning the project he joined others in the actual construction of the facilities.

David, thanks for what you do in helping the residents of your community in their darkest hours. And for picking up a hammer and helping improve the community and the department's facilities.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
