Each Friday we salute a First Responder, the people who respond to emergencies at a moments notice. This week we honor Oneida County Investigator, Dave Cady.

Officer Cady was nominated by Ina Schleicher for more than just his police work. She calls him her, "hometown hero" for his work with youth. In addition to his law enforcement duties, he runs a karate studio and is very active in working with children.

Ina credits him with creating a positive relationship between her children and law enforcement, an element often lost on youth. In addition to his karate classes, Officer Cady often takes his students to nursing homes to sing carols at Christmas time.

Ina goes on to call him an "upstanding officer, investigator, karate instructor, mentor and friend."  Officer Cady thanks for what you do, and going the extra mile to work with youth helping the start life on a good path.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
