Each week we salute First Responders who are running toward the danger when most of us would be headed the other way. This week we salute, Benjamin Toach with the New Hartford Fire Department.

Ben has been serving with the New Hartford Fire Department for nine years and just became a 3rd Lieutenant. He responds to calls concerning medical issues and structure fires and is always ready to protect and help his community.

Ben is also a Strength and Conditioning coach at a local gym helping others achieve their best performance. The person nominating him tells us, "he is always putting others first, and I believe it's his turn to be first."

Ben thanks for all that you do and helping others to achieve their goals too.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday,' presented by Martin, Harding & Mazzotti.

We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
