A Rome family is heartbroken after someone stole a statue from their yard. A statue honoring their son who was killed while serving in the military.

"Just noticed some low life scum stole this angel from my front yard," Agnes Geary wrote on Facebook. "I pray and hope in some way they pay dearly."

The statue sat on the lawn of Mike and Agnes Geary's home on East Erie Boulevard. It was part a memorial for their son Daniel, a Marine who died in Afghanistan in 2009. It went missing sometime over the weekend. "They are heart broken since the statue, like other things they have displayed carries sentimental value for them," says Michelle Rossi Morgan, a cousin of Agnes and Mike who is trying to help find it.

Daniel may be gone but he's not forgotten. In addition to the memorial Mike and Aggie support other Gold Star parents, attending every veteran function in the county supporting area veterans. "They are kind and humble people and it is sad someone was malicious enough to dishonor a fallen soldier in this way," says Morgan.

If anyone has any information on the stolen statue, they're asked to contact Morgan on Facebook. "I will be happy to come retrieve it no questions asked." Or call the Rome Police Department.
