Did Utica break the Ice Bucket Challenge record? Yes and no.

More than 570 people turned out to help break the record for the largest Ice Bucket Challenge after the Utica Blue Sox game Sunday July 23rd. It was enough to break the record in America but not the world. China has that record at 782 people.

Marc DePerno, Sitrin Outreach Coordinator says the purpose of the Guinness World Records was to encourage people to challenge themselves and surpass human limits. “Persons with ALC do that ever day as they fight for their lives.”

ALS of Utica is happy so many people showed up for the challenge. "While we did not break the world record we certainly showed that our ALS families are not in this fight alone.
