In September of 2003, a man seemingly vanished from Hamlin Beach State Park on the shore of Lake Ontario.

Police say Dean M. Lewis had been traveling around the U.S. and staying almost exclusively in State Parks in his 1987 Volkswagen van.

On September 29, 2003, State Police responded to a call that Lewis had not checked out of his camping site by the 11 a.m. designated check-out time.

The police investigation found that Lewis' vehicle was 'very clean' and 'in proper working order.'

Lewis' family said at the time that he contacted them on occasion during his travels, but had not talked to him since September 25, 2003 - 4 days before he was discovered to be missing.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call State Police in Canandaigua at (585)-398-4100.
