Being that today is World Radio Day, it seems only appropriate that we shine the light behind the curtain a bit. Polly, Carl and the whole team banded together on Thursday and Friday to raise over 87 thousand dollars for St Jude. This shatters any previous records before which is a testament to you, the reader and listener for your donations and for the love you show, and to their professionalism and passion. I will explain.

So many pieces go into executing these 2 days of radio, which are our favorite and most fulfilling of the year. Many moving pieces have to come together to pull off a flawless presentation that never takes the focus off of why we do what we do. From the great people at St Jude, to local sponsors, to the front office team, everyone has a role to play. Sometimes though, things do not go according to plan.

There were migraines. There was illness. There was upset stomachs. There were people having to drop out of their time slots because they physically could not perform, even though they brought themselves into the station because they wanted to be there for the kids. Sometimes, no matter how willing the heart is, the body disagrees.

No one called out. No one said they couldn't make it. We were sending people home in the best interest of their health. And they did not take it lightly. Everyone was One hundred percent committed to raising money and awareness and being there for the children. It's a level of dedication that was absolutely beautiful to see. As the Brand Manager of Big Frog 104, who has been in this industry for a very long time, I can't remember a time I was prouder to be a part of something.

Two Days. Three People on the air. Countless behind the scenes. 87 thousand dollars raised. It's my hope that we can all celebrate this achievement together and you feel the pride I do for this team.
