Tonight, American Idol kicks off its 11th season with auditions in Savannah, Georgia. On Thursday, it's off to Pittsburgh for more. The eight audition episodes will also send judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez to Aspen, Galveston, Portland (Oregon), San Diego and St. Louis.  Will they find more country stars like Scotty McCreery and Carrie Underwood, or will this season crown a winner who slips into oblivion like Lee Dewyze and Taylor Hicks.

The Houston Chronicle had an article on which played-out songs they would like to see banned from the show. The list includes:

Feeling Good, Nina Simone
Isn’t She Lovely, Stevie Wonder
Anything by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Alicia Keys
I Don’t Wanna Be, Gavin Degraw or I’ll Be, Edwin McCain
Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now), Phil Collins
Unchained Melody, Righteous Brothers
Summertime, George Gershwin
At Last, Etta James
Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley

Funny how no country songs made that list.  I guess that mean no one is sick of hearing county music.
