Generations of the Doing family in Sherburne have been helping their neighbors in times of trouble. Today we salute the third generation member of the family, Allan  Doing as our First Reaponder Friday honoree.

Allan has been a volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years, just like his father and grandfather. Over the years he has earned the Fireman of the Year Award and the Chief's Award. In addition to fighting fires, he has worked accident scenes, performed water rescues, and even driven the ambulance.

Mr. Doing is also employed as a Chief Lineman with the City of Sherburne. Which means there have been instances where he responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a power pole collision. He aided the driver with medical attention and then repaired the power pole.

As if those duties didn't keep him busy enough, Allan is also the current Sherburne Pageant of Bands Chairperson. The Doing legacy will continue for a 4th generation as his 20 year old son recently joined the department.

To Allan and the entire Doing family, thanks for all you do. Helping us in our time of need, keeping the power on, and organizing community events.
