One of the biggest country groups through the 80s and 90s was Sawyer Brown. This popular band actually has a tie to Utica, NY and that comes in the form of their second lead guitarist, Duncan Cameron. Cameron is a native of Utica and he was in the band from 1991-2004.

The above photo is of Duncan rockin' out with the group at FarmAid in 1999. Duncan was part of the band contributing to such hits as "Thank God For You," "Treat Her Right" and "The Boys And Me." Before his tenure with Sawyer Brown, he was a member of the group The Amazing Rhythm Aces. I made this discovery when I read what was going on this day in Country Music history. I discovered not only that Cameron was a member of Sawyer Brown and from Utica, but that today (July 27th) his is birthday! Happy Birthday to Utican Duncan Cameron!
