The thin blue line paved a path for a New York police officer's son battling brain cancer as he headed home to hospice care, and the moment will touch your heart.

11 year-old John Hoague-Rivette was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in May. With his father being a police officer, John has always loved law enforcement. So in June he was sworn in as an honorary captain from his hospital bed at Albany Medical Center.

On July 31st John left the hospital and headed into hospice care at home. But he didn't go alone. John's trip from his hospital room to the waiting ambulance was lined with local and state officers, friends, family and hospital staff.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John and the Hoague-Rivette family.
