The common cold - you're not really sick, but everything aches and you can't find a comfortable position sitting up or laying down.  And as we all know, only Granny Clampett had the sure cure for the common cold and that's not legal in most states.

According to WebMD, there may not be a cure, but there are some things you can do to feel better.

"You may find you need 12 hours of sleep each night, so don't set that alarm. You'll be most comfortable in a warm, humid environment. It's also important to drink lots of water. This makes mucus flow more freely and helps with congestion."

Other tips from WebMD include:

  • Use Tylenol if your fever is over 100
  • Gargle with salt water if your throat hurts
  • Eat healthy and think about taking supplements to make sure you're getting the proper amount of vitamins.

You can read the entire article here.  It contains great information on over the counter medicines too.

The Dr. Tad Pole recommended cure is the chicken soup and toast route.  Plus an extra does of moaning, groaning and complaining about how bad I feel.  It doesn't seem to help a lot, but the wife sure seems to get irritated and that always makes me smile!

Do you have a favorite comfy food when you have a cold?
