September Is National Grandparents Month
September 6, 2011 10:14 AM As we wind down the Frog Days of Summer, September is winding up with a number of events. You may not know it but September is National Grandparents Month. Those of you who are fortunate enough to have your grandparents (or event a great-grandparent or two) still with you, that’s great!
I remember my grandparents as a kid. They always slipped you 50 cents or let you stay up late when they babysat – that’s what grandparents are for. According to statistics from Family Circle magazine:
1. There are some 56 million grandparents in the USA.
2. About 1.9 million grandparents are sole caretakers for their grandchildren.
3. Eight percent of U.S. children live with at least one grandparent.
4. 38 percent of grandparents say they would be happy to look after their grandchildren for more than two weeks.
