You can have an impact on future farming technologies and state farming legislation in a survey being conducted through Cornell Cooperative Extension. New York State is funding the survey to better understand how today's technology is being used on the farm.

Farming sure has come a long way from the days of milking into a bucket by hand. New technology has even brought drastic changes to planting and harvesting crops. This survey covers both field operations as well as livestock production.

    • precision agriculture refers to technologies that allow producers to better manage field sites through  geographical information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), crop and soil sensors, variable rate technologies for fertilizer, pesticide, and seed applications.
    • the use of high-resolution weather data, aerial and satellite images, use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, aka drones), etc.
    • In livestock production, precision agriculture includes computer hardware and software for data collection.

The survey is being conducted online here.
