You may think you are having allergies this time of year, but that may not be the case. There is a virus going around that mimics allergy symptoms. 

Dr. Scott Woods tells Local 12 News that a virus has spread throughout the North East and most people don't know they even have it.

Dr. Woods said dozens of patients came in thinking they had allergies the last few weeks when it was likely the newer virus. Or they may have had both.

"There must have been a new strain. Most of us didn't have a lot of resistance to."

This virus is a respiratory one. You may think it's just allergies, but it may be something else. If your allergies are lasting longer than normal, or you are noticing a lingering cough, phlegm issues, and trouble breathing, go talk to a doctor.
