The legendary drummer for "The Band" Levon Helm is in "the final stages" of his battle with cancer according to a press release issued by his wife and daughter and reported by CMT. Helm, the lead vocalist for such Band favorites as "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "The Weight", was also a talented actor who starred as Loretta Lynn's father in the 1980 film "Coal Miner's Daughter". Nursing students at MVCC have won first place in a National Student Nursing Association competition. The students had to produce a song and video promoting this years theme the "Joy of Nursing". The video was then posted online and on our site three weeks ago, and voted on in competition with several other schools. The MVCC entry garnered the most votes and was declared the winner.  A group of students went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend an NSNA conference.
