5 Things To Know Before Buying Farm Land – AG Matters
There's more to real estate than location, location, location. Cornell Cooperative Extension says whether you're renting or buying farm land consider these 5 things before adding more acreage to your operation.
A CCE workshop will expand on these 5 important features:
- evaluating soils
- water
- zoning
- market access
- infrastructure needs
The workshop is April 23 at SUNY New Paltz with a brief introduction to land assessment skills. The rest of the day will be spent "visiting local farms that produce a variety of commodities including hops, livestock, fruits and vegetables to learn about infrastructure and land resource needs for different production systems."
The workshop costs $45. Get more information from this online brochure, Register online or contact Carrie Anne at 845-340-3990 ext. 311 or email cad266@cornell.edu. Deadline for registration is April 18.
