One woman. One horse. One goal. To ride through 48 states raising awareness for domestic violence. Meredith and Apollo trotted through central New York this week.

8,000 miles into a 10,000 mile, four year journey, led Meredith and her horse Apollo into central New York. "Apollo and I started riding around the U.S. in 2017, from California," says Meredith. "New York is our 29th state."

The Centauride began January 1, 2017 after Meredith escaped a domestic violence relationship. She used her divorce settlement to buy a horse and ride it around the country. "Since I feel so grateful for this opportunity, and so saddened at the thought that anyone else is going through what I did, I felt it was right to use the ride to help everyone I could meet along the way," says Meredith.

While in Oneida, Meredith and Apollo stopped at Help Restore Hope Center, for domestic violence victims. "They work hard to never turn anyone away even when their shelter beds are full," Meredith shared after her visit. "Other ride highlights included playful cows, a local favorite food truck, with salt potatoes, and riding a section of the original Erie Canal."
