Carrie Underwood's record label, SONY Music just confirmed she will sing the opening theme song for Sunday Night Football.

"I am thrilled to be a part of NBC's Sunday Night Football and am so honored they asked me,” said Underwood. “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!"

From NBC:

“Carrie Underwood was our first and only choice to perform the Sunday Night Football opening,” said SNF producer Fred Gaudelli. “She's one of America's most popular entertainers and the perfect fit for our show.”


The 1st Sunday night game is September 8 and will feature Carrie's ex-boyfriend Tony Romo as the Dallas Cowboys host the NY Giants.

 

Just a few minutes ago FOX News reported Carrie Underwood will be the replacement.  So far, neither NBC nor Carrie Underwood have confirmed that as fact.

At 4:39 USA Today also reporting Carrie will replace Faith.

She may have married into professional hockey, but the Grammy-winning American Idol champion will sing Waiting All Day for Sunday Night, the opening theme for NBC's Sunday Night Football, this season

Add NFL.com has another source reporting the Carrie news.  Still no confirmation from the NBC or Carrie.
