What It Costs To Have A Baby in the United States

Being Canadian I never use to pay any attention to medical costs, because we didn't have any. When I first more across the border, I married into the military, where there weren't any medical costs either.  I had no idea how expensive everything was until I received my first bill after a surgery. Even after insurance covered their part, it took us two years to pay it off.  But that bill was NOTHING compared to what it costs to deliver a baby.

This patient was even charged for observation! So it costs you to have someone observe you. How can ANYONE afford to have a child in this country! And that's the cost BEFORE you have to raise them.

I miss universal health care.
