Central New York's very own Erin Hamlin was given the honor of leading Team USA into the arena during the opening ceremonies for the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Hamlin has called the opportunity an honor and a privilege, and even tweeted about being excited for the moment:

I happened to be fortunate enough to be invited to watch Hamlin's history-making Bronze medal run in 2014 with her parents at the F.X. Matt Brewery in Utica. Take a look at her family's reaction when she makes history becoming the first American to medal in the Luge:
