Syracuse University Scoring Leader at Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball
It's time for the 16th annual Sitrin Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basektball game. It's Thursday, April 19th at Utica College with Syracuse University's scoring leader.
Headlining this year's event are Syracuse University basketball legends Lawrence Moten and Eric Devendorf, as well as Olympic bronze medalist Erin Hamlin. You'll have the opportunity to get autographs with all of them after half time.
"These Sitrin stars are extremely strong, extremely fast, very proficient and the celebrities struggle, as they should, because they're not use to using the wheelchair on a daily basis," says Marc DePerno, Director of Sitrin Stars Adaptive Sports Program. "We want to showcase their amazing abilities."
At half time, you could compete in a three point competition against Moten and Devendorf. Raffle tickets will be available for that and a record raffle gives you a chance to play on the celebrity team.
Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for students. You can pick up yours at Sitrin or at the door. Doors open at 6pm and the game starts at 6:30.
"All the money stays local" says DePerno. "It helps us buy new wheelchairs for a variety of sports. It helps local athletes train and compete, both locally and a far."
Devendorf is no stranger to Wheelchair basketball. He took part 4 years ago with the late Pearl Washington.
