The amount of money New York State collected in traffic tickets in 2018 is staggering. Almost $250 million in fines and fees for traffic tickets and other violations were issued last year.

Money collected goes into a fund managed by the New York State Comptroller according to Syracuse.com. Some will stay in the community and county and New York state keeps the rest.
