2016 has been one heck of a year for exploring abandoned, and off limit, spots in Central New York. We decided to share the top moments of the year with you.

1) Exploring The Abandoned Neighborhood Of Woodhaven Park In Rome

In Rome, we took you behind the scenes of an entire neighborhood of abandoned homes. These homes have been closed off to the public since 1999. In June, we decided to bring cameras in this normally off limits area.

2) Take A Tour Of The Clinton Building Alex Haley Started Writing ‘Roots’ In

Central New Yorker’s are no stranger to the name Alex Haley. We are also no stranger to his climb to fame as well. He’s better known as the author of the 1976 book “Roots: The Saga of an American Family“. Did you know he started to write this classic novel when he lived in Clinton New York? We took you inside the building he started to write the novel in.

3) Explore The Abandoned Radio Station Building In Whitesboro

We took you behind the scenes of a former home of our radio station in Whitesboro. What we found in this building now were old radio boards, old cart decks, and old memories. The building was recently cleaned up in spring of 2015.

4) Explore The Abandoned Riverside Airport Of Marcy New York

If you browse Google Maps you’ll notice a airport listed in Marcy called Riverside Airport. This airport hasn’t seen any sort of planes landing at it since the late 90’s. Since then, it has grown abandoned and time has truly forgotten this magical spot. During this trip, we learned the importance of receiving permission to explore private property. DO NOT EXPLORE PRIVATE PROPERTY without permission.
