Remember Mario Kart? The Nintendo game where you race in go-karts as popular characters from Super Mario games is coming to Rome's City Hall green for an outdoor tournament.

The City of Rome and Rome's LAN Mob Gaming Center are teaming up to host the event on Friday, June 29 on Rome's City Hall Green, 198 N. Washington St.

You've never played Mario kart like this. It'll be played on a giant inflatable screen right outdoors on Nintendo Switch consoles.

You'll face-off against your friends and neighbors from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and when it's not your turn you can get food from local food trucks, and play lawn games too.

No pre-registration is required, but get there early to get your numbered ticket, then everyone will take turns in numerical order.

The Mario Kart Tournament is free and open to the public of all ages. Bring the kids and introduce them to one of the most popular video games of the last 20 years, or re-live those marathon gaming nights with your friends.
